ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest - The Perfect Companion for Ultra X Tanzania 250KM
I recently had the opportunity to participate in the Ultra X Tanzania 250KM race, and I relied on the ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest to carry all my mandatory gear throughout the challenging course. I must say that this hydration vest proved to be an exceptional companion in an unforgettable event set in a beautiful country, surrounded by friendly locals, and sharing the experience with amazing running camp mates.
First and foremost, the ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest offers a well-thought-out design and ample storage space, making it ideal for long-distance races like the Ultra X Tanzania. The 7-litre capacity provided enough room to comfortably fit all the mandatory gear listed by the race organisers. Its multiple pockets and compartments allowed for efficient organisation, ensuring quick and easy access to essentials without having to rummage through the entire pack.
One of the key highlights of this hydration vest was its hydration system. With a minimum requirement of 1.5 litres of fluid for the race, the vest's soft flask holders accommodated this without any issues, carrying 2 600ml soft flasks and one 500ml hard plastic at all times. Staying properly hydrated throughout the event was crucial, which sadly did catch me out on day one, the reliable hydration storage from the ASICS FujiTrail vest allowed me to conveniently sip water && electrolytes whenever needed, eliminating the need to rely on heavy bladder systems.
Comfort and stability are paramount during ultra-distance races, and the ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest excelled in this aspect. The adjustable straps and snug fit ensured minimal bouncing and chafing, keeping me comfortable even during extended periods of running. I honestly didn't mind what I looked like, but zero chafing is a huge win. The breathable and moisture-wicking material prevented excessive sweating, contributing to a more pleasant experience in the challenging Tanzanian climate and limited facilities in the camp sites.
Beyond its functional features, the ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest demonstrated durability and reliability throughout the entirety of the race. The vest's construction and materials held up exceptionally well, even in rugged terrain and under demanding conditions. I felt confident knowing that my gear was secure and protected, allowing me to focus on the race itself, including quite a heavy tracker that had to be on the outside! (it was also handed to me by three time spine winner Pavel Paloncý #mancrush)
Lastly, a few words about Ultra X Tanzania 250KM (my first multi-stage ultra) which was a truly extraordinary experience. The stunning landscapes of Tanzania, in the shadows of Kilimanjaro, the warm and welcoming nature of the locals with their 'Jambo, Jambo' phrase, and the camaraderie of my fellow running camp mates made the whole week unforgettable. The ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest obviously played a crucial role in my journey, enabling me to focus on the basics (left foot, right foot) taking in my incredible surroundings and the simple joy of the running.
I highly recommend the ASICS FujiTrail 7L Hydration Vest for anyone seeking a reliable and functional hydration pack for medium & long-distance trail running events. Its well-designed storage capacity, dependable hydration storage, comfortable fit, and durability make it such an excellent choice. If you couple it with a remarkable experience of your own like the Ultra X Tanzania race, you too will think this running pack proves to be an invaluable asset.
